Conflict & Higher Education

Conflict creates disorder. People become refugees or are internally displaced and education at all levels most often stops.

Conflict also means that colleges and students  can become become targets to recruit soldiers, or a place to hide weapons and conduct attacks from campus buildings.

Contribute to the study of how college campuses can continue to provide educational opportunities for all who seek it, in a safe, neutral setting.

Global Partnership for Education (GPE) data shows that today over 50% of the 57 million children worldwide not attending primary school live in fragile states characterized by weak institutional capacity and governance, affected by political instability and in many cases persistent violence.  The majority of these children are girls.  GPE current supports 28 countries considered fragile or affected by conflict out of a total of 59 developing country partners.  For more information:  https//
